The Greens’ accounts are redder than ever. And not just since today. Since 2021. This is reported by Il Tempo, according to which Angelo Bonelli’s party, in the Marche region, would be registering a long list of financial irregularities, reported these days by the party members themselves. Among the critical issues would be the failure to approve financial statements and supporting documents, as well as the debts incurred by the regional Federation, the causes of which are unknown. Then, as if that weren’t enough, there would be “economic” relationships with an unknown company called “Montefeltro”.
Despite everything, however, only now, after five years of absolute silence, have the first reports from some activists arrived, and a meeting has been called for the approval of the 2025 budget and the regularization of previous ones. Although talking about budgets would be far too generous: always according to Il Tempo, in fact, these would be sheets with income and expenses, without any supporting documents, published on the party’s web portal.

In April, with the aim of clarifying things, a press conference had also been called, which, however, apparently clarified nothing at all. In Pesaro, some leaders, including councilor Maria Rosa Conti, had reported some inconsistencies, asking for the resignation of the regional coordinator and loyalist of former minister Pecoraro Scanio, Gianluca Carrabs, and co-spokesperson Sabrina Santelli. “We ask them to step aside – read a note – so that the Roman executive can take control of the situation, bringing local management back within the framework of the statute and regulations, preventing repercussions on the national budget and, ultimately, on Europa Verde’s ability to access public funding.” The request was immediately rejected by the interested parties who, through a statement, spoke of “instrumental attacks” and an operation “artfully constructed”. In short, the complaints were not well received by the alleged culprits.
In any case, after the public reports, disciplinary proceedings were initiated, and the Pesaro federation would have been placed under special administration. However, there continues to be no trace of the requested financial statements, bank statements, national contributions, and membership cards. And it doesn’t end there: several reports of irregularities have also come from Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Veneto, and Lombardy, particularly in the Brescia area. In this case too, it would involve debts to third-party suppliers and external structures.

With reference to the article published on the Libero Quotidiano website on June 18, 2026, titled “Avs, debts and financial irregularities. The scandal overwhelms Angelo Bonelli”, Europa Verde requests the publication of the following rectification pursuant to art. 8 of Law no. 47 of February 8, 1948.
The statement that Europa Verde is characterized by “debts and financial irregularities”, “accounts in the red” or an accounting “scandal” is not true. The party’s financial statements are public, approved by the competent bodies, subject to legal audit and validated by the Commission for the transparency and control of political parties’ accounts.
The latest approved national budget shows a surplus of over 400,000 euros. The 2025 budgets of Europa Verde Lombardia and Europa Verde Milano also close with a positive result.
The reference to a “Montefeltro company” is not true. Montefeltro is a citizens’ association of the Greens and the related budget item concerns a credit of 500 euros.
With reference to the matter concerning the headquarters of the Lombardy Federation, the management report attached to the 2025 budget acknowledges the prudent provision of 100,000 euros made by the party pending the definition of the position with MM S.p.A.
The events referred to in the article concerning some territorial federations relate exclusively to political and organizational differences and not to accounting or financial irregularities.
